Thanksgiving comes to e-Institute Union Hills

December 15th, 2014

Students and their families were treated to a Thanksgiving feast to be remembered at the Glendale campus of e-Institute Charter High School on Nov. 26. “We have never attempted anything quite on this scale but we wanted to give our kids a Thanksgiving meal and experience to remember,” said Principal Rick Wolff.  “For some of our students this might be the only holiday meal they get this year.” Approximately 150 students, along with many of their family members, enjoyed all the trimmings for the holiday meal including about a dozen turkeys, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, stuffing, rolls and a variety of desserts. The entire staff contributed to the festivities but enough could not be said about the efforts of parents and volunteers. Famed television and radio personality Jim Dilettoso, who has a daughter enrolled at the school, and his brother Sam, did the bulk of the cooking and had the knowledge and experience to make this event possible. “Without the Dilettosos, I don’t think this would have been the success that it was,” added Wolff. “Now that we pulled off this year’s meal, we want to bring this positive experience to all six of the e-Institute campuses next year.”  Senior Chris Figueroa said of the school’s efforts, “Not many students will take the time to thank the people who made this possible but I wanted to make sure they knew how much I appreciated it.”
